Sofie's Choice

Strava Day 515. Reading and mindful breakfast done.

Featured photo is self-timed, filter used is "Morning." Wanted to watch tutorial videos on youtube on how to transition from headstand to handstand but then decided to just shoot a free-flow yoga, take a lot of deep breaths and let go: if I fall or fail, then I'll try again.

Typhoon has passed but it is still overcast here. Title is inspired by "Sophie's Choice," the 1982 Meryl Streep film. Watched the trailer but upon reading the first comment (it's supposedly a nice film but would take an emotional toll on you), no longer want to subject myself to additional drama and trauma.

Grateful today that power came back yesterday earlier than expected and that somehow we were able to spend alone time. After 10 years, we are still both quite critical of each other's photography, parenting style and other habits, nonetheless, we always choose to be better (not bitter). Having the space that we have and the time to workout is already a privilege. All the hurt that we still carry from our childhood, we can always bring to the gym or to the mat. Some people workout just to look good, I workout for my health (clear head space, inner peace, a healthy BMI and body age which is 10 years younger than my real age).

Grateful always for my father's sense of humor.

Papa: Kahit pa sabihin mo na "Don't call me ate," pag talikod mo sigurado sasabihin dun sa kasama, "Uy, si ate, nagalit." (Even if you tell people to not call you "ate," for sure when you turn your back, they'll laugh at you and still call you "ate").

Mama: What's wrong with "ate" ? It used to be a sign of respect.

P: Pang-katulong. Sa palengke, ok lang tawagin akong "ate" pero sa ibang place, ayaw ko pa rin tinatawag na "ate." Sa St. Paul, ang tawag sa teachers kahit married "Miss."

Sunday here. Got to run after capturing T's candids and other moments. Gratitude and light.
