The Little Bay

A better day today, so after lunch we decided to walk down to the Rockfield Centre to see an exhibition of photographs and various artifacts relating to Port Beag, the 'Little Bay' or An Ob, the original Oban.

Port Beag was originally given to the fishermen of Oban, so it's said, as a place to launch their boats, carry out repairs and the like. It's recently been upgraded and a new jetty for the local lifeboat constructed - some people say that this is not what it was intended for, but who knows!

There was a display of some very early photos of Oban, stories and a video of local boatbuilders and a couple of display cabinets of old boatbuilding tools, of which this is one.  Stupidly I forgot my glasses, so couldn't read some of the small print!

A good day for our Deck Man - dry and sunny for the most part, though he won't be finished today as planned, but will be back next week.
