The Three Of Us

Life before blip. May Bank Holiday weekend 2000.

Back in 1994 I was invited to join a craft group called Northern Fells Craftsmen. We put on some very nice shows in halls around Cumbria where the seven, or so, of us went to a lot of trouble to transform a village hall into a pleasing sales venue for our own crafts and those of guest exhibitors.

With the Millennium approaching three of us talked about doing something special and very different. Tony, Richard and I booked Mirehouse's Exhibition Hall on the banks of Bassenthwaite Lake. We drew up a list of visitors from our mailing lists and sent people entry tickets to the gardens of the historic house and provided them with free refreshments.

Our display stands were made from sawn slabs of wood and the natural look was echoed by large pot-plants. The three of us displayed our best work. Here we are photographed with Richard's desk, my necklace and Tony's Tiffany style lamp.

I really loved doing this show in such a beautiful setting.
