Aquamarine/Nanna K's Day

99 Tunnel

A day of errands in the car from South Seattle, a kitchenmaid appliance repair place (extra ..to notice the lovely BLUE sky, and unbusy part of town)  and up to the North end with 3 more back down to home.   This is crazy but this is the first time we have driven in the “new” Route 99 double decker tunnel so I thought I’d record it.   There are walk out exits about every 650 feet if one needs  ..it’s a toll so we have the “Good to Go”  sticker on our car that records and pays. (about $1.50 mid day)  It’s only 1.75 miles long.
Construction began in July 2013 to replace the Alaska Way viaduct along the waterfront but wasn’t completed til Feb 2019 because the world’s largest tunnel borer “Big Bertha” ran into something that broke it and there were big delays…..   Many years of planning and running over budget etc etc and now it’s way underfunded to replace the costs, due to not enough traffic during covid.  We only saw a few cars ,all going faster than we were.
should you want more
