Frosty times

About a week ago I took my first trip with a local walking group that Rose walks with. I enjoyed myself and signed up to the group and got an invite to another walk this week. This one started about 3 kms from home so I got a lift down to the start with Jan (on her way to a meeting), and found a small group who live in the area already waiting. Eventually another three carloads arrived from town and off we went. When the walk was over I did another 3km getting home through "our" forest.
The whole day the temperature stayed below freezing (right now it's -9°C) so we seem to be on the cusp of autumn/winter. Our walk started and finished along a track just above the pictured lake. The ice had formed overnight so there were still a couple of swans paddling around in one of the pools of open water. I think they'll soon be gone.
Later we drove into town for dinner with Rose and then it was Film Studio. Tonight's film was French; L'incroyable histoire du facteur Cheval, with the English title: Ideal Palace. It's a reality-based film about a postman who built a "palace". If you look up "Ferdinand Cheval" on Wikipedia you can read about both him and his wonderful creation.
It's something of a film week as tomorrow we are at the local museum to see "The Wizard of Oz", but that's part of tomorrow's blip...
This picture is part of a 6-photo group on flickr, about the forest walk today.
