Virginia Vacation ...

… Day 2.

After a restful night’s sleep we are ready to get this vacation underway!  One of the main draws to this area is the many Civil War Battlefields that are here. So after some more shopping this morning we spent the afternoon touring some of them … Chancellorsville and Hazel Grove among them.

There is a really nice driving tour from the Chancellorsville Visitor Center that we started before having to break for dinner.  The light was fading fast by that time so we will have to return some other day.

Along one of the roads on this driving tour we came across the lovely dog in my collage.  He/she didn’t seem to belong here and there was no one in sight.  I hope that he/she was not lost but there wasn’t much we could have done about it anyway.  I’m not even sure what road we were on at the time.

After lunch and before we took the driving tour we had spent some time at the resort checking out some walking trails along the lake on site.  At one of the places we stopped we met Brett … the young man in the upper right photo.  He works at the resort marina helping people with boat rentals.  We talked with him for some time and he gave us some ideas of places to visit while we are here.

We had dinner at a restaurant called Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen … because why wouldn’t we!  And brought home something for our own Cheddar Cat … to be featured on my blip sometime soon!

Before returning to our cabin we did a little more of the battlefield driving tour but it was getting a bit too late to appreciate it.  We will return …

Backblipped: November 21, 2022 ... sigh.
