This week’s local newspaper headlines the plans for the demolition of Fiddlers Ferry’s power station and the sites redevelopment. It’s a 15 year programme, which assuming there are no delays (unlikely) means completion sometime near the year 2040. The site’s owners Peel L&P have commenced a local consultation, and I had a look at the consultation website this afternoon.

On the same page in the newspaper an item about pink footed geese, which for the second winter running are roosting on the river Mersey in huge numbers (well over 10000 apparently).

Local newspapers are a good thing, under pressure in the 2020’s but hopefully somehow managing to survive.
