There are Alphens everywhere -- Brabant (municipality Alphen en Riel), Zuid (South) Holland (Alphen aan de Rijn (Rhine), and here in Gelderland, Alphen aan de Maas.

Despite the very long name, one might be amazed at how 'much' space I was granted to shoot this.  It's on a small hill the size of a rubbish dump, the area is entirely off limits but for the graciousness of the homeowner, who lives in a caravan beside it, and there is absolutely no room to park except on his property, and he's quick to remind everyone of that if he happens to be home.  If he's not home, there is no place to turn the car and parking will have to be done elsewhere, followed by a long walk to the mill.  He was on the way out, and I explained that I only wanted to shoot the mill.  No problem, much appreciated, but I'd best get a move on because the gate will be shut the moment I'm done.  Not that the location was worth the effort.  The caravan on one side and the swamp on the other side quashed any panoramic ambitions.  There was a time when shooting this mill was easier, but that was years ago.

A sneak hunting trip in the late morning before the clouds closed in.  This is one of those very few mills I am glad to be done with, notwithstanding the temporary good weather .

Spent the day reading Toon's notes and powerpoints.  A lot of the work has already been done, of course, but I need to pick up where he left off.  Also spent a good amount of time on the bookkeeping.  Not yet finished, but it is going rather well.  AW, of course, followed the football games till the evening, even while he was busy with the Wednesday evening online bridge tournament.  Good weather promised for tomorrow... I hope so.
