Golden

Rob came armed with some waffles and he added some bacon which created our breakfast. After which we drove to Great Yarmouth.

There were still some parking space when we arrived at 11am but it obviously getting busier. We parked and started walking along the promenade by the seaside. It was a gloriously sunny and hot day. We watched all the traditional seaside things: rides on the pleasure beach which we opted not to pay to enter, walked on the pier, looked at the seafront hotels and casinos. The Golden Nugget reminded me of Las Vegas.  The freshly prepared donuts were delicious. It was a wonderful three and a half mile view of British seaside. The others were a bit down on the place but I could have stayed longer. We didn’t get to see the ‘Venice’ or the town. There’s a lovely expanse of beach which, even on a hot day like today, did not get full.

When we arrived yesterday we found a couple of places we tried for lunch were closing by 2pm. Today, we wanted to also see Cromer and thought that a decent place to have lunch. So we left Great Yarmouth in a bid of a rush to get to Cromer.

I started to feel a little tired on the way back and so, when we got back to the Airbnb around 5:30pm - and after another visit to Tesco  - I went for a lie down. That turned into a sleep from which I only woke just in time for a shower before heading for dinner.  I was feeling a bit dizzy but suspected it might be something to do with being out in the sun all day.

We arrived at The Giggling Squid (Thai food with personality) in Norwich at 8pm. Apparently, we’d struggled to find anywhere taking bookings but this place had an outside table on the square. It was lovely. The service - particularly the bar service - was really very slow and we had our starters before our drinks. But the Thai food was delicious. I had Rising Star Red Duck Curry which is one of their signature dishes: duck breast and juicy star fruits and pea aubergines. Yummy.
