View from the roof

Some shopping and a walk to Morden Park this afternoon and then, just after 4pm, we boarded a train for Central London. I had no idea where I was going and I was a bit grumpy because I had planned a quiet evening but it turned out that PY had arranged a night at The Standard, a hotel at the junction of Argyle Street and Euston Road which was the former Camden council offices but is not a lovely hotel with a view of St Pancras train station.

We checked it but that wasn’t the end of the surprises. We were soon off to Seven Dials Market to The Cheese Bar - which is a cheese-themed restaurant where the cheese is served on small plates on a  conveyor belt (identical in concept to a lot of sushi bars).  It was absolutely fantastic: both as an experience and as a restaurant. I loved all the cheeses but can’t remember what any of them were now

Afterwards, back at the hotel PY had arranged for a table on the rooftop restaurant with these stunning views of the station and hotel opposite. Delicious. And we discovered some new favourite crisps; truffle flavoured. That probably says a lot about the evening.
