Wound up in Wexford

Comfort food

Still feeling distinctly under the weather.  Not helped by losing out on the house we fancied.  The Auctioneer (Irish term for Estate Agent), having promised to ring us back "this morning" didn't ring until 5.30, when he told us that the other party in the house stakes had upped the price by a huge amount (provided the vendor would wait a couple of months for them to sell a house).  We could probably have it for less, as cash buyers, but would still need to increase our bid.

It felt as though we too were being asked to wait.  And it also felt (and I may be completely wrong here) as if the locals were upping the ante to get as much as possible out of the blow ins.

We dropped out.  Mr Auctioneer was somewhat taken aback.  "You mean you won't increase your price?"  "No, we mean we withdraw our offer completely.   We'll look for another house."

Oh - OK.

And that was that.  Back to the drawing board.  We WILL find the right house - it's out there somewhere.

But not for a few days, I am not up for long drives, coming home in the dark, at the moment.
