Blickling at Xmas

Our U3A photo group met this morning at Blickling to have a look round the house, which is dressed for xmas, and take a few photos. The taking of photos was a real challenge due to the very low light and with them (understandably) not allowing tripods to be used in the house. As well as this table arrangement in the Library, I've added a couple of mono photos in Extras of a bauble inside a champagne glass arrangement and of some decanters and glasses in a window. I used to go to the outside lights at Blickling which used to be free to members, but they now charge £14 with no discount for NT members - so I don't go on principle.

 Covid Update
The weekly ONS infection survey of private households up to w/e 21st Nov showed UK cases increasing for the first time since mid October. There's an estimated 1 in 60 with the virus in England (up); 1 in 60 in Scotland (up); 1 in 75 in Wales (down); and 1 in 65 in NI (uncertain). Let's hope it's not the start of another xmas peak. Dame Kate Bingham, former head of the vaccines taskforce, has said that the current Covid jabs are 'not good enough'. She also accused the Govt of going 'backwards' in preparing for future pandemics. Testing by the Food Standards Agency has shown that Covid can remain on some ready-to-eat groceries for days.
