Getting the sparkle back

This photograph is in an exhibition by Paul Duke entitled No Ruined Stone at the City Art Centre. The artist grew up in Muirhouse in north Edinburgh and returned there in 2015 aged 50. His photographs aim to show portraits of residents and architectural structures surrounded by elements of the natural world. The exhibition shows a strong sense of social injustice. None of the pictures had a title.

This was one of three photography exhibitions I visited at the City Art Centre with the photography class I've been doing this term, the others were of a lost world of Edinburgh interiors shots by Ron O'Donnell and lastly historical photographs by women photographers. We also looked at a few recent acquisitions. My brain had turned to cotton wool by the end of the afternoon!
