Sauerkraut

I start the day cleaning, slicing, pounding, and salting a cabbage. In a mason jar, the cabbage is submerged under liquid released during the pounding and salting. It’s held down by a slice of black radish. Over the next few weeks the action of bacteria will transform this into sauerkraut.

Then, to work. I start using my new FTTP and cancel the EE 4G card that I’ve been using up until now. The FTTP download speed is high (95Mbps), but not yet as fast as promised (160Mbps). We’ll see if this improves over the next 10 days.

I bring the oil filled radiator down. The portable air sourced heat pump has not been a success. Apart from being noisy, it doesn’t deliver the heat. Part of the problem is that although it vents cold air to the outside, it also sucks air in from outside. It feels like when the air inside is a lot warmer than the air outside, this limits the units ability to heat to a reasonable temperature.

Evri finally deliver my mother’s Christmas present. They’ve had it for 12 days on a 2 day delivery :). The woman that delivers it apologised profusely and explains that Management have split her route for the busy period. She has been doing the other half, while our portion has been given to randoms that don’t know the area. Predictable chaos ensued, because Evri don’t have a system that records actual routes/locations to properties that they’ve delivered to before. A technological fail.

Pork steak, chips, cabbage and mushrooms for tea. Then I discover Philomena Cunk - comedy I can appreciate!
