Saturday Marketeer

After two clear frosty mornings followed by bright sunny days it seems amazing that just over the Cook Strait in Wellington the weather has been cloudy, wet, cold and miserable.
Several sailings of the Interislander Cook Strait ferries have had to be cancelled. One big ferry damaged the wharf at Picton and had to return to Wellington with all passengers and freight still on board. They had ten hours at sea by the time they were back in Picton. Unbelievable! So I was pretty lucky with my sailing last Monday.
Anyway, today I went to the market held every Saturday morning in the Railway Station Car-park. Also known as the "Car Boot Sale" it is run by Blenheim South Rotary. It has been going for years and is a great place for bargains and meeting up with friends. Full of interesting stalls and people, it is a photographer's dream.
Not wanting to stick out like a sore thumb with a big DSLR camera, I just took my trusty little Panasonic Lumix. Very discrete and non-threatening it does make nice images. Unfortunately it does not support Raw files which are my preference when using a bigger camera.
My Blip today is an image of another Blipper, Dinny. Note the camera around her neck. Another Panasonic Lumix.
Dinny is helping her daughter K at their stall. K makes very attractive designer "Beanies", warm hats for kids and grown-ups. I have put in an order for one... in varying shades of purple, my favourite colour.
Dinny is holding an image of a very cute little bird. She is kindly selling some images for yet another Blipper who shall remain nameless but is currently overseas.
We have a very active little Blip community here in Marlborough. It is all the more special as we all belong to the Marlborough Camera Club and all ten of us know each other. With one exception... a newbie.... " 70-200" who remains a mystery for now....
