Escape

I pruned our gardenias this afternoon, and put the offcuts into the garden waste bin. An hour later, this Jumping Spider appeared on the lid of the bin. I assume it had been caught up in my pruning, imprisoned in the bin, and escaped. So pleasing. 

The Brisbane Insects website has a page on Jumping Spiders. This one might be a Garden Jumping Spider. Which seems very logical.

It's really small and not at all scary - about 3 mm across the head!
