Clouds on the horizon?

Driving down a quiet country lane today I came across this very large gun. In view of the independence vote next year one wonders if this vehicle is being prepared in case the vote goes the wrong way. Not saying which way the wrong way would be of course.

Consulting the technical manual I found this is an Abbot FV433 SPG (Self Propelled Gun) mounting a very big 105mm gun. It was built by 'Vickers' in Newcastle in 1963 and went to work for the British Army. It spent time in Germany and also on 'Salisbury Plain' being finally decommissioned in about 1989.

It is currently to be found near Aboyne, masquerading as a feature at the Deeside Activity Park, but might ready for active service once again following the referendum should the need arise.

In fact I believe I may have driven this vehicle back in 1998 (or thereabouts) so there is at least one trained driver ready to step in to do his duty once again. 1745 or 2015, have we been here before?
