Santa Apolonia Station

We left the house at 4:15 to get to Edinburgh for the 7:05 flight to Lisbon. Temp as we drove along the motorway from Perth was -8!

When we got on the flight they told us that it would be delayed due to them awaiting fresh water for the loos and drinking water as they had to drain all the water from the plane the night before to stop from freezing. They also had to defrost the engines. These are acceptable delay incidents I would say.

A relatively smooth flight over to Lisbon landing in 18 degree temps! When we left the metro at Santa Apolonia there was a torrential downpour so we waited u FIL it went off before our ten min walk up to our hotel in the Alfama. Our hotel room was lovely really bright with three large balcony windows. The hot has only been opened a year and everything is good quality.

We walked down to our favourite viewpoints and sat in the cafe chairs with hot chocolate watching the sun go down. Had to believe that under three hours away it’s deep dark winter.

Went for some food in a cafe near the Castelo. Felt cold and shivery in my bed, put another cover on but was still cold.
