Desolate

11c this morning -8c on Saturday morning. Such a change, snow and ice disappeared overnight under a deluge of heavy rain which persisted most of the day.

Susan was meeting a friend for coffee in town so we drove to Waitrose where we would do some shopping later, parked up and walked into town. I had a coffee, kept seats warm then left them to it when her friend arrived, into the rain and wind, playing the old soldier!

The Royal Star Arcade has never been one of the busiest places in town. Today it was as deserted as I’ve ever seen it. The cafe had closed, hopefully temporarily as furniture is still in place. There were very few open shops and even fewer people. All the same, the Management have made a good effort with the decorations.

By the time they were all talked out we were hungry so we called in for lunch at Leah’s having a turkey roast dinner then walking back to Waitrose and that shopping.

Susan went to see her mum in what remained of the afternoon while I did the online shop, did some revision for a passing out turn at Rolvenden crossing gates on Thursday and sorted my ever growing uke chord songs.

We had some lovely videos and photos of Landon’s Christmas brunch with Santa. His expressions and reactions were priceless.
