Boxing Pub

Boxing Day. Faye has downed tools and said we can help ourselves to cold cuts for lunch. Fair enough - she and James worked really hard yesterday. It was such a beautiful morning we all went out for a walk round the village, finishing at the pub.

Julia (other daughter) and I walked back to the house before the others and cooked up a bubble and squeak to go with the cold turkey. With pickles and a glass of red wine it's hard to beat.

All the presents have been opened now. I organised a hunt the walnut game for the children and dispensed Poundland prizes. They are calming down now and starting to go to bed.

A wonderful Christmas. Very different this year (see 19 May). I am blessed to have such a beautiful family. Valerie is here with us in spirit.

Home tomorrow.
