A time for everything

Journey's end

I took this view from near the office at the campsite, while Roger was getting us checked in. We were later getting away than we'd hoped as Roger had a meeting at work that went on longer than he'd thought it would. That meant we ran into traffic going through Columbus, so by this time it was about 6.30. We noticed a big change in temperature as we got out of the car - it had been a hot day back in Cincinnati, but being evening and over three hours drive further north, it was quite cool. We had stayed at this site once before, two years ago, but in September, out of the main season, and we stayed in the central area close to all the facilities, and I hadnt realized what a big site it was. All the land in the picture belongs to the campsite, up to and including the lake, which is on the far side of the road, but what I hadnt previously realized was how far the site extends off to the right, and that is where we were staying this weekend, as being the holiday w/e they were virtually, if not completely full. We did have a toilet block fairly near our pitch, but the shower block was half a mile away! Other than the distance to the showers though, I was glad we were in the outlying area as the central (original) area was pretty tightly packed - where we were was quieter and more space - we overlooked another large open grassy space. Its a really nice site though - family run for forty years, and it is beautifully maintained and the wash rooms kept very clean, which is always an important consideration for me, since just having a pop-up camper, and not a 'big rig' we dont have our own bathroom.
