Joshua Tree

This Joshua tree was in a park in Tubac, Arizona.

The name was given by a group of Mormon settlers who crossed the Mojave Desert in the mid-19th century. The tree's unique shape reminded them of a Biblical story in which Joshua reaches his hands up to the sky in prayer.

The band U2 realeased an album by the same name in 1987 which is the only reference to the Joshua tree some people know!

They can be found in many parts of Arizona. In fact, there is Joshua Tree Scenic Road which is 86 km and a Joshua Tree National Park.
