A Day In The Life

Bird Lady

This “Lady and The Birds” bronze sculpture adorns our city’s common. It was commissioned by the city and created by Norman Therrien to celebrate America’s Bicentennial in 1976. It stands on the spot of a bronze Neptune that was removed in 1942 before being donated to the WWII war effort for scrap • Another gray and quiet day. We enjoyed a visit and a brisk walk along the river at the Boat Landing. Of course no boats are ever launched this time of year but it’s getting more and more doubtful that any ice will be forming either. If this ends up being true, it will be the first time in the 22 years we’ve lived here that the Kennebec remained “open” all winter • Take good care and enjoy your evenings!
