Suncertainty Principle

We are told that there are only two things for certain in this life: death and taxes.

There is a little known third certainty which is that It Is Always Sunny In Grange over Sands™. Safe in this knowledge, the wee ones and I packed up our things and headed over for a stroll along the prom. Unfortunately, the rest of the South Lakes area had had exactly the same idea, so it was a little busy along the prom.

The wee ones whizzed along on their smart new scooters (Christmas presents from their grandparents) before we arrived at the football pitch (also busy) for a little kickabout. When they’d tired of that, we wandered over to the mostly empty skatepark and released their remote controlled cars. There followed about half an hour of carnage as the cars were jumped over ramps, driven into walls (and each driver) and off the side of these - pretty high - ramps landing with sickening cracks upon their roofs. Despite my warnings that these things were not indestructible, the carnage continued and even drew a small crowd at one point as the cars flew over another ramp and we tried to get some slow motion footage. They got an absolute hammering and yet SOMEHOW, both cars survived with only a few scratches here and there.

We were having such a nice time with no desire to return home despite rumbling tummies, so we stopped at Romney’s for a pub lunch and started to make a list of the things we wanted to do this year. I was delighted that unprompted, “more paddleboarding” and “be outside more” both featured highly from the pair of them.

Eventually, we did go home, but spent the afternoon playing with Lego and then having a go at some Switch Sports which was also great fun.

In the extras is the finish to The Youngest’s bowling action - it worked for her as she trounced m’boy and me.
