Last fling

Three of the five Christmas trees made by members of the Abbey Craft Group in Loughrea.  First displayed in 2020.  So colourful and wonderful textures.

We were in Loughrea today for W to see an optician.  He got new varifocal glasses in December, but was unhappy with the distance vision part when driving.  Sadly, this is because his cataracts, especially in the right eye, have got much worse in the last couple of months.  Not really very good timing, but hey ho, we'll get by!

I picked up some multifocal contact lenses to try out - they're made with lots of concentric rings for distance and near vision, and apparently the brain is clever enough to just use the appropriate image.  It'll be interesting to see if my brain can cope.

We had lunch at a cafe on the main street in Loughrea, where they do a very nice veggie burger - the best W has come across.  He enquired about the manufacturer - made by Pallas Foods, but it seems they are only a wholesale outlet, and it's not easy to see where he might be able to buy some to cook at home.
