HEBRON - A PRISON WITH CLOSED AND OPEN DOORS

We went to Hebron today and spent several hours with TIPH (Temporary International Presence in the City of Hebron).

The city is occupied by Israel and divided in two, H1 and H2. There are about 800 settlers in Hebron, and about 1500 persons from the Israeli army and police to protect them. The Israeli Army also control the settlers that they don't expand.

Hebron has become a prisoner for the Palestinians.

We walked around in the city together with the international observers, and met Zleikka Muhtaseb. She is of of the many that has has got her front door bolted.

Here you can see a video about her and her situation as a prisoner in her own hometown. "I'm one that resist", she told me.

TIPH also showed us places where palestinians families where not aloud to lock their front door because of settlers in the neighbor house. Some have to enter their home by their neighbors apartments or roofs.

Hebron is a prison with closed doors, open doors, soldiers, closed streets, flooding because of embarked streets, settlers harassment, apartheid streets, palestinian children down to 5 years old has been taken by the Israeli Army and held for 5 - 6 hours before transported to the Palestinian police that has delivered the child back to the parents.

I'm impressed by the work of TIPH and as so many times before, I'm impressed with the dignity of the Palestinian people.

There must be a stop on this absurdity.
