A Tavola!

Today almost felt like the good old days ..when we used to go out to lunch with friends, drink some wine, share stories and have some laughs...and were not afraid to sit near strangers and start up conversations with them.. in the days Before Masks....

My friends and I, because of our age and vulnerabilities, have been quite cautious for the past three years and have really missed those good old days - when we would, without any worries, go to a movie in a crowded theatre, meet at a popular coffee shop, take courses or classes, and even hop on a plane and go off on a vacation..and we yearn for those days to return..and after all this time, we are tired of waiting!

So, today my friend Donna and I went out to lunch, for only the second time since Covid. We have had luncheons in our own homes, but we have been hesitant to go out to restaurants. Today we decided to risk it - how daring of us - and went to a little Italian bistro we had not been to in years...and the food was still fabulous, as was the wine, and we thoroughly enjoyed every calorie! The restaurant was not crowded at all, so that really helped our comfort level.

What made this even more special was that we were still there in the lull before the dinner rush and the owners, being the chef and his wife, took the time to sit and chat with us. The conversation - a very upbeat and  animated one - focused mostly on our travels...theirs being ever so much more extensive than ours! We learned so much about their area of Puglia that we are now anxious to include it in any future trips to Italy  ...should such trips ever materialize!

What an uplifting afternoon; it was just what we needed.

Buon cibo, buon vino, stimolante conversazione con nuovi amici.... perfetto!

(once again, an app comes to the rescue.. blur be gone! Or at least camouflaged!)
