Unexpected

The forecasts was for rain and possibly snow showers and indeed it was threatening to rain when the local walking group left Pitlochry for Spittalfied a few miles outside Dunkeld. A shower was encountered en-route but this then passed and we were greeted with blue skies when we arrived.

The walk followed some of theroutes on Perth & Kinross's  Core Path Network and took us deep into farm land, over Caputh Hill and down into Caputh before making our way back to the starting point, about seven miles in total.

There were 10 of us, including some new faces, and it was good to walk and talk with different people.

We were greeted by some very friendly horses at one point who cantered across the field to say hello and also saw a group of fallow deer, mainly young bucks.

I really enjoyed the walk - we have driven through the area but never stopped to explore. The scenery is very different from Pitlochry and so made a pleasant change.  I even have some (distant) family connections to the area - if my research is correct one of my 8th Great Grandfathers was baptised in Caputh.

The rest of the afternoon shall be spent on finishing touches for my miniature house
