Reality and Truth

An excellent, stimulating and thought provoking presentation at the photo society this evening. Peter Durant is an architectural photographer who is also interested in the psychological process of taking photographs and how they are processed.

Peter took us through a history of image making from cave paintings of hands created in 30,000 BC through to the emergence of photography over the last 200 years.

He gave us a number of examples of images that have been cropped in different ways to impart various differing impressions. How we view images depending on our cultural backgrounds and personal frameworks. How the various media, particularly social media, can erode our impartiality.

So much to think about. A lovely man who gently explained to us his philosophies on life. And a lot of wonderful illustrations to admire.
