An ordinary life....

Frozen fields...

David was up and off to the hospital early to be there in time for the consultant's round and to speak to the physio.  Thankfully they both appeared earlier than yesterday

The Consultant had good news in that Alan's blood tests taken earlier this morning show that his infection levels have gone from sky high (his words) on his admission to almost normal.  That's a huge relief.  His temperature over the last 24 hours has stabilised and is sitting steady at the higher side of normal.  The ultrasound of his heart yesterday was done as a precaution to check for fluid around his heart.  Again, thankfully that was all clear.  So things are improving albeit slowly.

David came back home in time for lunch then we headed back to the hospital.  The physio and a nurse were in with Alan as he'd had another coughing fit, which is distressing and exhausting for him but crucial in expelling all the gunk.

His support worker Vicki was able to tell us that not long after David left at lunch time, Alan and the physio had worked hard and he's managed to clear a lot of gunk and he'd let them (or they'd managed to) suction a lot away too.

He was utterly exhausted when we finally got in so told him to close his eyes and sleep while he had the chance.  He was coughing but just small coughs that were annoying him rather than being productive, so the nurse put the nebuliser on him for ten minutes and he settled into a peaceful sleep.

He was still asleep when we left him in Penny's capable hands at 8.30pm.  She's just texted to say his obs at 10pm are all good, including his temperature which is the lowest it's been since he was admitted to hospital.

Think we’ve got a few more hospital days to go but we’re encouraged by and relieved to see the improvement.

Nabbed today's blip as we headed back to the hospital. Was encouraged to see how light it was at the back of four. So glad we've not had heavy snow here.
