An ordinary life....

Over the hill...

We were up early this morning for Tesco delivery at 8am.

Got an update from Blake who'd been with Alan overnight to say physio had been in to see him and said that his left lung is sounding much clearer but still some work to do on the right one.  He's also pleased that Alan is now sitting up in his wheelchair for longer times throughout the day.  His temperature has continued to be normal throughout the night and oxygen level has been dropped slightly.  Positive news to start the day with.

David was at the ward for just after 9am to speak to the Consultant.  He is also happy with Alan's progress.  He won't be able to come home till he no longer needs IV antibiotics and oxygen but we are slowly edging toward those goals.

David came home to have lunch and a sleep.  While he slept I couldn't settle so took myself to the studio and passed the time getting absorbed in two small watercolours.  Not my usual style but they were fun to do and didn't require much thought.  Perfect way to pass the time.

Headed back to the hospital just after 4pm.  Alan was awake and watching a film on Vicki's iPad.  Well I say watching, he was struggling to keep his eyes open as he's still so exhausted.  No smiles yet (I can't wait for the day we arrive to even a hint of a smile.  It will be the first sign that he feels he's on the mend)  Sat with him while he dozed and had the nebuliser.  He happily wears the nebuliser mask so he must feel the benefit.

We stayed till 8pm and the poor lad was trying so hard to stay awake.  We left when he was due his feed and meds as by the time that was done he would have conked out.

Home for another late dinner and the sad news that my lovely friend Fiona's dad has passed away after a short illness.  I mentioned him in this recent blip on being awarded an OBE for services to illustration.  I am so glad he knew his remarkable artistic contribution had been recognised.
