MVHR* ducting

*Mechanical ventilation and heat recovery

This ducting is huge! It feels like I'm in a warehouse or trendy ceiling-free office. I really had no idea that a Victorian terraced house could fit in a system this large.

In the background of the picture is the white membrane lining all the walls so that the house is airtight. This is to avoid draughts and heat-loss and it's why I'll need ventilation.

The MVHR includes a heat exchanger which will recover as much heat as possible from the stale air leaving the house and use it to warm the fresh air coming in. In hot weather this system reverses to supply cool air to the house.
