Looking DOWN on leeks I dug UP

Not without some difficulty as the leeks were firmly embedded in frozen ground and were reluctant to leave the soil. The water butt had over 2 inches of ice on the surface which made swilling them a challenge.

It rare entry to Mono Monday hosted by Skeena and a bit of a desperate attempt as the glorious weather of the past week deserted us this morning leaving a cold lowering day.

More prep for our trip this week occupied our time after we’d done a Joe Wicks HIIT and Susan had given me a rather excellent haircut. Bit of shopping this afternoon to collect $US. The rate is much better than it was a few months ago, almost 1.20 to the £

Edit: as Tweedy pointed out, within the hour they were in a leek, potato and bacon soup and were no more.
