Burns Night

During Robert Burns' lifetime, the War of Independence was fought in America.

Napoleon Bonaparte was the ruler of France.

Fletcher Christian led a mutiny on the 'Bounty' in the Pacific.

A few years before his birth the Battle of Culloden ended the hopes of Charles Edward Stuart of taking the throne of Scotland for his father, and was exiled in France.

And I am told that Abraham Lincoln was fond of reading Burns' poetry.

History is fascinating.......

Enjoyed Haggis, Tatties and Neeps for dinner with a whisky sauce.  Mmmmmmmm.

Happy Burns Night.....
