Tobar na Coille

The Snow Queen last night was wonderful -  beautifully danced and staged. The theatre was also full which was good to see.

We stayed the night in one of Inverness's three Premier Inns and after breakfast headed over to Culloden Wood . We followed the trail which took us past Tobar Na Coille also know as St Mary's Well, amongst other names. It is a clootie well where offerings in the form of pieces of clothes or cloots are dipped in water from the well and left as an offering. It is a tradition dating back to pre-Christian times and still being practiced today if the number of cloots on surrounding trees was anything to go by.

It's been an interesting 24 hours or so in Inverness - I do enjoy combining a visit to the theatre with exploring the city and surrounding area.
