A Day In The Life

Manners

Emily Post may not approve but Northern Cardinals eat with their mouths open. The edges of their lower beak fit into grooves in their upper beak enabling them to crack open seeds for that meaty goodness inside. Their tongues help position the seed for opening • Finches are able to do this too but many birds have to hold the seed with their feet, then peck at it until it opens • We’re enjoying a mostly quiet Sunday while a light drizzle of freezing mix is falling this afternoon. It shouldn’t amount to more than an inch. I hope you’re enjoying a restful day wherever you are • Peace & Love
