Another day

... another iris.

Out in the raised sand bed, iris buds have been pushing up.  Today the first flower is fully open, Iris histrio, this form from Syria, collected in the 1990's from an area no longer open to visiting botanists :-(   Given where it grows wild, it's a little surprising that it does so well in the garden.  This is it's third season here and I had them outside in Norfolk previously.   Related to the widely grown Iris reticulata which has many forms in the horticultural trade, Iris histrio, with it's heavily spotted falls, is the aristocrat of the family.

A busy sort of Sunday.  Jamie and I met another prospective PA this morning.   As with someone he met last week, Jamie had a thumbs up feeling.  Next step is a trial one-to-one session for each of the two favoured applicants .... the current worry is that Jamie will like them equally, making the decision a hard one.

We stayed on at King's Cafe for an excellent Sunday lunch before meeting someone from the home treatment team who are supporting Jamie for a while post hospital.  We walked Bella while we talked.  Home for a few minutes, a quick turnaround then a walk with C and the megs, cold and grey by the river today.   Very muddy dogs after they waded through the mud for a drink of river water :-/    Both dogs needed a shower, mine now looking extra fluffy afterwards!

A quiet evening at Jamie's, both tired.  An early night hopefully although, having listed my spare achimenes on eBay this weekend, I have some orders to pack up.
