Isle of May

Razorbill (Alca torda)

Anstruther early to catch the May Princess across to the May Isle (The name is possibly from the Norse "Maa Ey", seabird island). A glorious day (in parts, we'll forget the hailstorm). The breeding season is a bit behind, because of the cold Spring, so there were no nesting terns to dive-bomb us as we left the boat, and the puffins hadn't hatched their pufflings yet, so weren't quite as frantic with the beakfuls of sand eels; still, it was magnificent!
Eiders, guillemots, greater and lesser blackback gulls, herring gulls, a couple of Arctic terns, a redstart, rock pipits, a wheatear, shags, kittiwakes, a couple of warblers, grey seals and puffins, puffins puffins!

Such a privilege to get so close to such wonderful species :)
I have put a few more up on Fl*ckr
