Life through the lens...

If you see a crocodile.....

‘ If you see a crocodile don’t forget to scream!’
Well we certainly didn’t expect to see this on our walk today, but none of us screamed.

A day out with Pudsey Ramblers. 6.5 miles. Starting at Farnley Hall ( Leeds) car park . We walked across the fields to New Farnley, through Sykes Wood, and then to Post Hill.
Weather mild, dull, with a strong gusty wind. However no rain.
I was interested in seeing Post Hill. My mum told me she had been with her best friend to watch the motor scrambling in the early 1930s.
In the collage you can see a photo of how it looked back then ( on a notice board we passed) Another photo of looking down “ The Hill”.

Post Hill owes its origin to the Yorkshire Post, who sponsored motorcycle speed and freak climbing events on the site in the mid 1920’s.
The cobbled track that is known as “ The Hill” ( see photo) was once a mecca for televised scrambling events, which attracted crowds of over 10,000. Post Hill still hosts motorcycle trials which are organised by the West Leeds Motor Club. However, ad- hoc motorcycling is strictly prohibited.

Very enjoyable walk and finished off with coffee in the Beulah Bistro. Perfect.
