Abstract distraction

Val and I went out for an early walk in Derbyshire; the wind was brisk, but not cold. Her son is on a short work visit to Ukraine this week, on behalf of the charity he works for. Thinking of him, and hearing yet more sinister statements from Putin today, brought it all into sharp focus for us both. Awareness of the war never goes away; sometimes it's muted, sometimes not.  I'm reading Andrei Kurkov's 'Diary of an Invasion' at the moment.  His writing has such warmth and insight; somehow the book communicates hope and determination, not despair.
I didn't sleep very well last night, so the rest of the day became a bit fuzzy and diffuse... rather like this shot...
