Godwits

I was out this morning with my husband and fellow blipper 28Degrees North on a Stuart Liner bird spotting cruise from Exmouth up the River Exe to Topsham.  We were well dressed up for the cold but it was relatively warm and a day of variable mainly cloudy weather.  It was fairly calm on the sea as we started and heading inland we spotted a number of birds including Shanks and Curlew.  An adult seal was lying on one corner of a fishing boat ignoring us as we came over to visit.  A number of birds were seen including Cormorants, Blackheaded gulls, Herring Gulls, Curlew, Oystercatchers, Brent Geese in very large numbers, Heron, Godwits, Redshank, Dunlin, Knot, Egret, Golden Plover etc.

The main photo shows a flock of Godwits that took off along with an Avocet.  As we passed two old wrecks there was a kingfisher on its bow, very far away, see extra.  On the way back another mother seal and its pup were seen and we watched as the pup slowly hauled itself out of the water to lie alongside its mum, also in extras.

An enjoyable day out.
