The Effect Of Light

Have you noticed how much more light time we already have?

I've been wondering for the last few days, as I remember doing last year, how sensitive houseplants are to reacting to the increase of light. The succulent plant in the picture, Haworthiopsis fasciata, shows the effect clearly every year. The days are not much longer yet, but it can be seen well by human, so why actually not by another living organism.

In February, when the light gradually begins to increase and overcome the darkness, it is a good time to celebrate the Day of Light. I noticed the theme when writing this. Very nice coincidence.

The Central Mental Health Association celebrates the theme. The calendar also has 3.2. name day of the light, name "Valo" in Finnish. It is a common theme day for those suffering from depression and their close ones. By the theme it's wanted to emphasize the importance of mutual support and bring hope to those suffering from depression and their loved ones after a long winter.    Very good theme.

The succulent is not a flower literally, but its meaning for us people is the same as a decoration and a plant that brings joy, so I tagged it for Flower Friday.

I wish you and your close ones a nice Day of Light:)
