Drying out

(6/2/23)

It's Wednesday and the first of G's early starts in the week. Rain had been forecast for today, but the sky was so blue with no clouds, so off I went to work. Boy, did the day change. We had torrential downpours, which looked like hail at times.

It created the usual traffic chaos, which made it complicated when it came to going home time. No taxis at all, and the rain was falling steadily by now. I didn't want to walk to a busstop or the metro station. In the end, Shabnam gave me a ride home after dropping her sister at her car. Fortunately, G's travel back from school was all done while it was still dry.

The next thing was how to get to the SA meeting, not that I think many people would venture out in this weather. It put the onus on us to show up, as Jeff and Margaret had travelled from Abu Dhabi. They had said they would pick us up, but at that stage, I hadn't even arrived home, so suggested they go straight to church to be there for the start of the meeting.

We walked to the nearest bus stop to us and missed our bus by ten seconds. The next one was in half an hour, so I tried to get a taxi. Several passed by. We eventually found one who was willing to take us. There were only four there tonight! There you go.

We got a ride home with M&J and treated them to Grand Station shawarmas to keep them going on their trek back to AD. The umbrellas got used well today, so much so they had to dry out in the bathtub!
