Improvements

It was a day that improved as time went on. It's too complicated to explain why it got off to such a rough start. Suffice it to say it was to do with psychological contortions and my distaste for changes in plans.

Anyway, we took a trip into town and went to the exhibitions at the City Art Centre. From the fourth floor down to the first floor, it was all fascinating stuff. Some material culture of Auld Reekie, a fine art photography exhibition about life in Muirhouse, Ron O'Donnell's lost Edinburgh (bought the catalogue) and then finally a large and text heavy exhibition called Glean, about women photographers and filmmakers in Scotland in the early 20th century.

We finished off with coffee and a bun in Mimi's Bakehouse, before getting the bus to Leith, where there were very few baked goods left at the market, but we managed to get a little something along with some meat from the Peelham Farm stall.

I did a little work this afternoon, and then we watched the Scotland v Wales match whilst I cooked and then we ate dinner. A most satisfactory outcome. I don't think I've ever seen Scotland play so well. There were an enormous number of Wales fans in Edinburgh before the match, and when we got off the bus we warned one group that they were going to need luck this afternoon. They acknowledged this was true!
