Still waiting

This is a late posting.

We went to the Parnell Farmer’s Market as usual, but MrMacD didn’t then leave for the Maritime Museum to go sailing, as it was cancelled because of the high winds expected this afternoon. On the way home from the market, we popped into the supermarket to pick up half a dozen items we hadn’t been able to get at the market. The supermarket was manic with people panic buying ahead of the expected cyclone. We were rather bemused.

We then spent time preparing food in case we lose power.  Between us we made yoghurt, ginger biscuits, roasted vegetables and a pumpkin purée from some of the roasted pumpkin.  The kitchen looked a bit of a disaster area by the time we’d finished, but we cleared up reasonably quickly, then showered and changed and headed into the city.  On the way we could see from the bus some of the huge slips that occurred during the big storm a couple of weeks ago.  It was scary to see some high value houses teetering at the edge of a cliff.  Who knows what might happen during the forthcoming cyclone.  We met friends from the UK at their hotel.  They’ve just been doing walking trips in the South Island and the North Island and will be flying out on Tuesday - cyclone permitting.  We had dinner at Harbourside Restaurant and a lovely catch up.  It was good to see them both.  They went back to their hotel across the road and we caught the bus home.  We managed to get home without getting wet, although the wind was picking up and quite strong.

Whilst waiting for our friends to come down from their room I took some photos of the lobby of the hotel, which was quite quirky.

Apologies for still lagging way behind checking into blippers journals. I’ll pop in for a visit soon when I get my focus back.
