A Day In The Life

Monday, Monday

This lone common merganser was all we saw on the river today. With her head high and her hair wild she floated downriver with the current. Perhaps she’s visiting friends in Merrymeeting Bay this evening • I used the rabbit-hole option in the Tiny Planets Ap • I’m finding the B-flat chord challenging to play and have been stuck on two songs: Swing Low, Sweet Chariot and Sloop John B. Thank goodness I like both songs because I practice them over and over and over. Yes, Bert, there’s no replacement for repetition • Curious about the history of the second song, I discovered it originates from an old Bahamian folk song. In 1647 a Welshman, John Bethel, who lived in the Bahamas built a sloop, which is a 16 ft. vessel with a crew of five. He named his boat “The Sloop John B” Go Figure!! • Most of us are likely more familiar with the Beach Boys’ version released in 1968 • As of today we have 35 days until Spring :)
