Up close!

After a good run, our lettuces have all gone to seed so today I pulled them up and fed it all to the horses. Bessie was unimpressed with the sudden menu change so came up and eyeballed me while giving me her opinion so I took the opportunity for a blip.
Animal eyes include all the same anatomical structures we have including the cornea, iris, sclera, retina etc. The main difference is the shape of the pupil which is determined by the muscle function of the iris.
Here in the horse, the pupil is almost a horizontal rectangle (not as rectangular as the goat) which constricts to a horizontal slit. The cat constricts to a vertical slit while the dog is round and constricts to a pinpoint similar to ours.
You can’t normally see an iPhone reflected in the cornea or other horses investigating the action but most of the above anatomical features are visible.
