It’s over!

It’s official! Our allotments are safe. We’re not going to be moved to a new site. The parish council gave confirmed that we’re staying where we are, that the notice to quit will be removed and that the Project A Working Group will be no more.

Wholesale resignations of councillors who were pushing for Project A in recent weeks has led to the co-option of new councillors who want to help heal the divisions in the community. All sorts of shenanigans that went on behind the scene have led to the demise of those councillors and officers responsible for this disastrous state of affairs

So our efforts over the past 21 months have been rewarded. All the vitriol, finger pointing, denigration of allotment holders has come to an end. Those of us who campaigned so vigorously can now stand down and just enjoy our plots again. The feeling is marvellous.

I’m not triumphant, simply relieved and glad that the efforts of those of us who knew all along that this was a crazy plan have successfully challenged those determined to see it through in complete disregard to the wishes of the community. And so many thousands of pounds wasted.

Now is the time to get behind the new Council and even more so after the May local elections. Then we all work for the betterment of the village
