Catkin frenzy

We came across a tree dripping with zillions of catkins on our walk around Finchdean in the South Downs National Park.

We covered over 9 miles up and down chalk Downland and valleys. The landscape looked fine even if there was a lowering mist over the higher ground.

We had lunch in the porch of the ancient church of St Hubert’s which sat isolated in a field in the middle of nowhere. Despite its isolation the Church seemed to have a vibrant community supporting it. So much history in its thousand year existence.

On the way back we spotted a herd of 15 or so fallow deer in a nature area. What a treat to see.
