Southsea Pier

We delayed coming home to make the best of a whole day in the local district.

First up was a walk along the coast from Porchester Castle to The Salt Cafe and back. Good coffee an victuals were enjoyed at the cafe.

Unusually for visits to the coast here the tide was in cutting off some parts of the coastal path forcing a detour.

From there we drove down to Southsea for a walk along the esplanade. We weren’t able to walk next to the sea as there are extensive sea defence works going on to the west of the pier.

Most of the day was mizzly and cool until late afternoon when the sun managed to poke through the clearing cold front giving some lovely light of the water and on the clouds.

A fish and chip tea rounded off the day and we were treated to a fine sunset as we walked back to the car. An easy journey back to Kent this evening.

A fine end to three excellent days with our friend and in the district.
